Hello and welcome to the website of the Canbashers Cricket Club, a wandering side which plays against clubs and villages in south London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

As you'll see from some of our match reports, our results are patchy: we've lost to some of the worst teams in southern England. But occasionally there are handsome victories against sides who thought they were better than us.

The precise derivation of the name 'Canbashers' has now been lost in the mists of time. But if you were to guess it had associations with drinking, few would argue with you.

Many of our games are played in beautiful settings: on historic village greens surrounded perhaps by a pond, a church, a manor house.

And there's always a pub nearby: it plays an important part in the Canbashers' day out - our players congregate there after stumps are drawn to dissect the day's play and, just occasionally, to comment on the umpires' decisions. And we're always keen to introduce new faces to the side: bowlers, batters, drinkers or simply lovers of the game are more than welcome to join us.
